Dealing With Aggressive Dogs

May 17, 2009 · Filed Under aggressive dog behavior

It is never fun dealing with aggressive dogs and most people who do have this problem usually want to find ways to get rid of their pet. They understand that if they bite someone then their chances of being sued will increase. One thing you have to understand about dealing with aggressive dogs; is that it is not the dogs fault that they suffer from these behavioral problems.

Unfortunately when you perform a deeper search as to why you are constantly dealing with aggressive dogs; it all seems to point back to the human at one point or another.

While you may not be the direct cause of why your pet is acting the way that they are; you do play a role as to why they keep acting like that. So it is important to find out what you are doing to encourage the behavior that is causing them to keep acting like that.

When you are dealing with aggressive dogs you have to learn how to be patient. One important thing to remember is that they did not turn into an aggressive dog overnight. Realistically it took time to develop into that type of behavior and you did not discipline them enough to stop the behavior from the start.

Of course if you are dealing with aggressive dogs and they are not your dogs; then that is a different story. You never want to put yourself in a position to where you are in harm’s way. No one really knows how a dog will react when he is not friendly. Therefore if you are dealing with an aggressive dog; the best thing to do is to walk away slowly and let them know that you do not mean any harm and you are not there to challenge them.

I remember when I was a mail carrier and had to deal with these types of problems more often than not. I would walk away however I would not turn my back towards the dog; I would back up slowly. This always resulted in the dog leaving me alone and minding their own business.
