Dog Training Part One: 3 Ways To Control Barking Dog Behavior

If you are like most people after a while you are searching for ways to control barking dog behavior because it becomes annoying and frustrating. Anyone who has a pet understands that this is the way that your canine friend will communicate with you. After all they can not talk and if they want something then you have to figure out what they want.

Eventually if your dog begins barking constantly it will frustrate you and your neighbors. This can be terrible if you are residing in a multi-family dwelling and may even cause the owners of the building to ask you to leave. We all want to learn how to control the barking dog behavior; however we do not want to teach our dogs not to bark because we want to be alerted if there is something strange going on or someone comes to the house.

Here are some 3 ways to control barking dog behavior so that you both can get along with each other and the people who live around you.

1. Leash Training: When you get back in from walking him during the day; keep his leash on. If he begins barking for no apparent reason then snap the least to engage the collar and let them that you do not approve of the behavior by saying “No.” When he does this behavior again keep repeating the process of snapping the leash and telling him “No.” Eventually he will understand that you do not want him barking for no reason at all.

2. Exercise: Take your pet for a long walk to make them too tired to bark for no apparent reason. This is one of the best ways to control barking dog behavior.

3. Do Not Give In: Dogs are like children and if you give them attention and give them what they want when they bark; they will learn that if they want attention all they have to do is bark.
