First of all you can never let your dog know that you are scared of them; even if you have some fear of them. Dogs can sense it when an owner is fearful of them and then they will begin showing more signs of aggression and may even turn and bite you.

If you do have some fear of your pet; then I highly recommend that you hire a pet trainer. There is nothing wrong with hiring a pet trainer and sometimes it can be good for both you and the pet. They will be able to show you how to properly train your pet so that you will no longer have to worry about their aggressive behaviors.

I was at a friends house a couple of weeks ago and she has a Boxer and a Pit Bull. We were just sitting there and chatting and out of the blue they started fighting. I have to admit that it scared me and I had no idea what happened. Since that day she has hired a pet trainer to help her with the training.
