As more and more people decide to become pet owners; the statistics about aggressive dogs will continue to rise. It is necessary that every pet owner do everything that they can to prevent their dog from becoming aggressive. As a matter of fact at the first sign of aggression it is necessary to take the proper precautions to put a stop to that type of behavior.

No dog lover wants to ever believe that their pet will ever become involved with aggressive dog biting; however statistics about aggressive dogs shows that the number of dog bites continue to rise each and every year. Over 4.7 million dog bites were reported in 2008 and the number one victim of the dog bites were children.

This is the main reason that we as pet owners need to take full responsibility of taking proper care of our pets and teaching them the proper command training; so that they will listen to us and not become the aggressive dog that many owners dread.

Many people tend to blame the big dogs as the most aggressive dogs such as; pit bulls, rottweilers and fear that they are the types of breed that will most likely turn on people or other animals. Statistics about aggressive dogs shows that the smaller dogs such as cocker spaniels, dachshunds and even Yorkshire terriers are known to show signs of aggression and attack people and other pets.

Personally I believe it does not matter what type of breed the dog is; if the owner does not instill the proper obedience training then it is more likely that their pet will begin to show signs of aggression. Therefore if you own a dog and you are love your pet; you owe it to them to begin the proper training.

Another thing that will help your dog from becoming aggressive is to spay and neuter your pet. Canines that are not neutered or spayed are more likely to turn on people and animals and bite than the ones who are.
