Stop Aggressive Dog Behavior Part Two: How To Stop Aggressive Behavior
Now that you know what the two common types of aggressive behavior that you as the owner are most likely to face; it is important to find out how to stop aggressive behavior from occurring. One important thing to remember as the pet owner is that it is a lot easier to deal with this problem when it first occurs than waiting until later.
If you believe that your pet will never bite or hurt someone then you are just lying to yourself. While we all want to believe that our dogs do not have it in them; you do not want to sit back and find out.
If your dog is aggressive towards strangers he will exhibit this type of behavior:
He will be fidgeting and will constantly be moving around and may even be barking and whining when they see a stranger. However he may also be very quiet just as if he is listening to their every move. Dogs seem to display this type of behavior when they notice certain people like the letter carrier or other types of service people who are in the neighborhood.
One of the best things you can do for your pet to learn how to stop aggressive behavior towards strangers is to properly socialize your pet. Chances are you are not providing him with the opportunity to get around other people and pets so that they can work on their socialization skills.
Try taking them to the dog park every week. You may have to pay special attention to them when you first go; however if you take them for a long walk or run before you go then you may not have to deal with their aggressive behavior. Hopefully they will not be difficult to work with and if they are more than you can handle you may want to consider hiring a dog trainer to help you out with learning how to stop aggressive behavior.
