Teach Your Pet Command Dog Obedience

January 4, 2010 · Filed Under Dog training

Every pet owner would love to be able to teach their pet command dog obedience training; after all who would not want their pet to be able to sit on command or even stay so that they will not run out the door the minute that you open it. Well the great thing is that you can learn how to instill command dog obedience training and with the right training methods you can easily have your pet disciplined and behaving the way that you would love to have them.

Stay: Take your dog outside and have them sit a couple feet away from you; walk to the opposite of the yard. At first you are going to notice that they want to follow you. However as you continue using the command dog obedience training; they will begin staying put. Wait a couple of minutes before you call them to you; when they come to you at your command then reward them with a treat or tell them “good boy or girl.” Eventually your dog will understand the stay command.

Sit: This one can be a little bit trickier especially if you have a very hyper dog. However when they become overally excited; then motion for them to sit. At first they may look at you like you are crazy and they have no idea what you are talking about. Keep motioning for them to sit and push their bottom down to the ground and when they finally sit; praise them immediately. Keep doing that same command until they begin to sit without you helping them sit.

Come: I tend to believe that this is one of the easiest commands that you can teach a dog; they learn how to come at an early age. However when you want to teach them how to come when you call them and as soon as they start coming to you when you call them you want to make sure that you reward them.

Remember your dog wants to please you and they will usually pick up on the command dog obedience training very quickly. Make sure that their training experience is a pleasant one and avoid yelling or hitting them; otherwise they will not want to pick up on the training because they will become frightened. If you get tired and impatient then pick it up at a later day and give it some time to work; however with proper training and consistency you can get your dog to listen to your commands.
